Good afternoon - well at least from my part of the world. :-)
I puchased a (new) Acer Predator G3-605 a little more than a week ago.
I must admit that it's such a long time ago since I read myself up on the different components of data, and I still have black holes knowledge especially as to compatibility.
I have two questions: The first one rearding compatibility and second one related to something else.
Queston 1:
After some search I found that the motherboard indeed is called 'Predator G3-605'. Well, on the net-based shops carrying this Acer model, the specs show that the RAM is 1600 MHz. I am yet to know (as of my black holes of computer knowledge) whether this detailed spec only showed info for the specific RAM brick installed, or whether this spcification tells that this megaherz / RAM type which is the only type that the Predator G3-605 motherboard can handle?
I ask - naturally - because I would like to upgrade the RAM in the machine, and I wonder whether I need to keep within the megaherz listed under the specs, or whether I can use other megaherz, as long as I keep to DDR3?
For you who are have great knowledge with computers in general, this first question of mine should be very easy to answer.
Question 2:
This question is related to my attempt at an online chat after I registered my Predator G3-605 an hour ago, which I did through the 'Acer Portal' program which was already on my machine. So, was immediately shown as successfully registered, but when I went to the chat, and plotted in my serial number, this info came up:
'Our records indicate the serial number you have entered is no longer eligible for warranty support.
If you feel this information is incorrect, please scan and submit a copy of your Proof of Purchase.'
(I did upload the documents just a few moments ago.)
I realize that it must be because I am from Europe that I probably can't get online help through a chat, but I still react on the info where my machine allegedly isn't eligible for warranty support, which sounds like my machine is too old for it.
I also assume that my machine will not be shown as 'eligible for warranty support' even after I uploaded the documents, and that I need to call my local Acer support for all kinds of questions.
Shouldn't instead the automated info show that the product is within the warranty period, but not eligible for support outside the country of purchase?
Fortunately this community exists, and I know that communities like these are generally of great help!
Especially the easy first question I had should be an easy match for many of you people. :-)
Thanks for your time.

I had to exchange the case for an Acer Aspire M1201. The motherboard used in that build is an Acer RS740DVF. The trouble I'm having is that neither could I find a service or user manual for that motherboard, nor are the front panel pins labeled on the board itself. They are color coded though:
What is grey in the schematic is actually colored black on the board.
Is there a safe way to identify which pins are used for what purpose? The case I'm using is a Sharkoon MA-M1000; the front panel wires are Power LED, HDD LED, Power and Reset.
Also, what is the worst that can/is likely to happen if I attach the wires wrongly? Will they simply not work, or is it possible that I damage the hardware?
Ah. Looks like it's a Foxconn RS740M03A1-8EKRS2H. Google will verify, but here is a source.
Pin layout can be found here. The green/yellow all the way to the right aren't defined. Sorry this is the wrong Foxconn model, but the pin layout is the same, so we're in luck!
This page has the manual, I think. Anyway, the front panel layout is like this:
Switches don't really matter, I don't think, as they are switches. But just in case, positive on 5 and 6.
In general, this is what Foxconn layouts are described as in the manuals -
While the list above covers most of it, it does not cover the fact that the OP is listing a 14 pin on the board for the front panel of the Acer RS780M03G1-8ekrs2hm.
This is the pin assignment:
on board pin 1,3 Orange from front panel wires are Red+,White- (HDD Led)
on board pin 2,4 Green from front panel wires are Green+,White- (Power Led)
on board pin 5,7 Blue from front panel wires not present could be reset
on board pin 6,8 Red from front panel wires are Blue+,White- (Power switch)
on board pin 9,10 Black from front panel wires are not present(Just to make sure the block is connected properly)
on board pin 11,13 Orange from front panel wires not present
on board pin 12,14 Green from front panel wires are Green+,Orange- (Lan Led)
The names may not be listed on the block or the main board but if you pull off the front panel and remove the wireswhat connects them to the panel, you will find the labels.
Providing the pin number (ie, which is pin 1) would be more helpful since most mobo manuals would illustrate pin-outs by numbers. But on most mobos, red would be hard disk led, blue is reset switch, green is power led (not sure which one on your picture above). You could try to momentarily short out any of the adjacent yellow pins to see which one would power on the computer (power switch connector). Also note that there are polarities on the led connectors.

The pins configuration described above for the Foxconn RS740M03A1-8EKRS2H worked for the front panel of an Acer RS880M05A1 motherboard, although there was an aditional jumper (2 pins) on the right of the front panel pins block, as it is show in the first posted picture of the Foxconn layout.
Thank you!
